The Credaro family first settled in the Margaret River Wine Region in 1922, migrating from Northern Italy. Being one of the pioneering families in Carbunup, a Northern Sub-Region of Margaret River. The Credaro Family settled into the area running cattle and sheep on the new family property.
Four generations later Robert and Phyllis Credaro, continue the tradition of working the land and in the 1980s, planting a small vineyard and diversified themselves into the art of viticulture and winemaking.
From their first plantings in 1989, through to developing a sophisticated modern winery in the late 1990s, the Credaro Family have established their two brands, Vasse River and Beach Head and have also become a major grape producer in the Region. Now with their five children, Matthew, Jason, Michael, Christopher and Emma they have created a long lasting family legacy which will continue for generations to come.
The Credaro Family currently own over 1000 acres of land all in the Margaret River Appellation. Most of the Estate is regarded as very good viticultural ground, with ideal climatic conditions. Our plantings exist from Metricup to Carbunup, with all the fruit produced from the Estate, grading into ultra premium wines.
Starting with a modest planting of 5 hectares, when the main focus was farming. The family always had an interest in wine. Each year a home blend was made from 50 vines that were planted back in the seventies. Over the next five years, the vineyards expanded and the first wines were produced in 1991. Over the next 17 years the vineyards have been bulit up to a substancial 250 acres, with a small portion kept, for the Estate boutique labels.
